 Today we live in a generous society yet the potential exists for so much more. Particularly when you consider that during the Depression, philanthropy was more widespread and people gave more than people from the affluent society of the 21st century.
But the world is changing. Bill Gates and Pierre Omidyar of eBay are just two examples of successful entrepreneurs becoming imaginative philanthropists.
Today the best charitable foundations have more clarity and accountability. What’s more people have more say and control in where their money is being directed and the new wealthy want to make sure that their money is being properly used and want to have a say in where it is going.
